ARM-A-DILLA and The 'cm' stands for country music..
So James Gibson walks into the FIP locker room and he's all geared up to tear the house down. Only one problem: There's only about 12 people in attendance. On top of that, i'm the "memphis" in the "memphis-strongstyle" world of the FIP. Gibson apologizes to me for not being familiar with everything I do, but knows I throw a shinning wizard, and keeps trying to put that in the match. I'm not one to take the night off, so i'm trying to assure him that's not what i'm trying to do. I tell him no wizards tonight. No trolls, no spooky witches, and no huge moves. I'm MEMPHIS tonight. He thinks i'm crazy, afterall, this is the indies right? We're supposed to dump each other on our heads a whole lot, then maybe punch eachother in the face a couple dozen times. James Gibson is kind enough to let me call the match in the ring, like the heels always used to, and something great happens after. James Gibson walks in the back and tells ME, CM Punk, that i'm a hell of a worker.

I think back on that story a lot and smile. To me, I ain't nobody. He was Jamie Noble. I'm just some punk rock kid trying to tell stories. Instead of talking spots for two hours before our match, he talked about his kid, and I started to get to know the guy. I think he really loved that. Man he really loves that kid too. I thought it was the most bad ass thing in the world. He was really amped to work with me, and I like to think afterwards he had a totally different apreciation of who I was, and what I was capable of. In between asking me if I offend him because he likes drinking beer and telling stories about his kid, he thanks ME for taking care of him and making it fun again for him. Jamie Noble. James Gibson. Thanking ME.

James Gibson leaves ROH tonight, just like I did almost two months ago. I wish I could say I was going to be there, but i'll be wrestling a house show in Indianapolis. He deserves one hell of a send off. He helped ROH out more than I think he knows. In the grand scheme of things, he's been there for me in the short while i've known him, but I think back to that first day we met, and worked, and hung out...and i'm greatful that I can call James "by god" Gibson my friend. He's my little buddy, don't ya know!

Somebody better throw some streamers for that hillbilly. Throw a couple for me too, and yell "armadilla!" at him a few times, just so he thinks of a certain punk rock kid...

Hey Punk thanx for adding me, I remember watching U at the OLD IWA Mid-South House Of Hardcore in Charlestown Indaian coming out to Bouncing Souls - OLE song, U were one of the best in IWA, I always remember U and I getting into shouting fights when U be in the ring and I be sitting my rear out in the crowd and one night before a show, U said I had some BIG Ballz to do what I did, I'm finally glad U r under a WWE contract, hopefully they will use u right and not screw U like they did alot of former WWE wrestlers, heck it be perfect if Raven was with WWE, restart your feud U had with him in Nwa-Tna, ROH, etc.. Stay cool brother and ALWAYS Stay STRAIGHT EDGE!!

hehe, by God...

That's awesome. I always wanted to see a Punk v Noble (back when he was Noble) match, but at the time that was so out of the question. It'd be good to get a tape from somewhere to check that out.

Keep rockin' Punker! \m/

I found out something similar to this when I met the kids from Parkway Drive (Australia band, couple of Straight Edge members, endorsed by Killswitch Engage's Adam D)

I thought they'd be all jaded like most HC kids in the scene, but they were the most down to earth dudes I've ever met.

PS, Punk, please try and come to Australia with the WWE. I doubt I'll ever get to see you otherwise. I bought your sXe T-shirt, so we'd be even that way.

Country Music... I knew it all along.

Punker, you're true on the sXe side of things, there's not doubt. But we all know you'll take Rascal Flatts over The Pixies anyday...

There's only so much you wrestlers can get by us 'smart' fans, right?

For some reason, I think that your post was made ten times funnier to me just because I live in West Texas. Actually, I can narrow it down to one thing that keeps cracking me up.

ARMADILLA, BAH GAWD!

Ahem.

Other than that, I'm simply reminded on how much I'm missing by being here, because that's one match I would've loved to have seen live.

It's always a surprise when someone you look up to (in any way, small or large) says something of impression towards you. What? Me? Impressive? Fuck off - you've made the big show man ... why call me impressive?

It's funny, Noble was always one of the most underrated wrestlers when he was in WWE - no one seemed to like him ... and I can almost blame that on his gimmick. He had some decent skill and seemed to have his heart in it completely ... but wow that character was soooooooooo lowkey it totally screwed him.

See - to me, that is the classic example of a great wrestler. You have guys that have been wrestling for years, say like ... the Urban Jesus (AKA Sean Michaels) who are legends in their own right, but could care less about the new guys coming up and will put them down as much as possible because they are a threat to them. But then there are the guys that got a taste of the big leagues and don't let it get to their head - they still know what is the most important thing to them (i.e. children, work ethic, etc.) and are the ones to give out what the "newbies" really need to hear and experience.

That's cool that you got to experience that. If you ever have to face a time in your wrestling career that makes you so sick of the biz and gets you so pissed off that you just don't give a fuck anymore ... remember this moment - remember your lil buddy and how you felt after that match with him. I'm sure it will be the inspiration you need to continue down the path that you've made for yourself.

And holy fuck that was way too philosophical for this early in the afternoon. YAY BOOBIES. There ... that's better.

With Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch having CM as their team symbol, it sort of gives new meaning to CM Punk does it not. I know you are using the monicker in OVW, but do you sense a name change and even a possible gimmick when you reach the big leagues??

I think Gibson got a send-off you would be proud of, Punk.

And unlike the last guy in the northeast that was being billed as having his farewell to ROH, he didn't go heel on us after we threw our streamers, chanted his name, and applauded for an hour.
